With a case diameter of 42.4 millimetres, this model features a stainless steel case, a Dune dial, and gold hands and gold appliqués. The watch has an elegant and refined appearance thanks to the new case construction, with a slimmer movement ring and sapphire crystals in the shape of a crystal box on the front and back. A highlight is the intricately designed dial, manufactured using a complex process consisting of 60 individual steps. The exceptional optical depth is achieved by applying 15 layers of clear lacquer, which are precisely polished to a high-gloss finish. The subdials are milled both rough from brass and from the lacquer layer. A special printing process further enhances the three-dimensional effect. Finally, the appliqués are individually hand-mounted onto the dial. The Portugieser Automatic 42 is equipped with the IWC manufacture calibre 52011, with an elegant perlage finish and circular Côtes de Genève. The Pellaton winding system is reinforced with virtually wear-resistant zirconium oxide ceramic components and packs a seven-day (168-hour) power reserve in two barrels. The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp.
